Stonecutter is a new and exciting New York-based journal of literature, created by a group of women who work in and are passionate about the arts.
At Stonecutter, we are excited by the idea of plurality of voice, vision and creative talent. Our journal endeavours to bridge gaps in literature and art, by creating a space free of stylistic boundaries, while setting a standard of quality work.
By placing various poets and playwrights, essayists and fiction writers side by side, Stonecutter will feature original pieces that intersect to form a subtle, unexpected dialogue. In doing so, we hope to present works that would not usually be seen or read alongside each other. We are committed to print and to producing a journal that is in itself a work of art and labor of love.
Stonecutter welcomes all kinds of expression, both in form and content. Below are the submission guidelines—even if your work does not fall within the following perimeters, feel free to send it our way.
Per submission: We ask that fiction, drama, essay or an excerpt from a longer work be limited to a maximum of 15 pages for submission.
A maximum of 5 poems should be submitted for consideration.
Please send us translations in both original and translated language.
For Issue One, we are also looking for fine art and performance art submissions. Please submit an electronic portfolio of your work or a link to your website.
